Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean and its territories

Covering an area of approximately 100,000 km2, the Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean region is the third largest in Quebec. A large part of its territory is in the northern region and is practically unoccupied.

The population is concentrated mainly around Lake Saint-Jean and along the Saguenay. The fifty or so municipalities in the region are grouped into 4 regional county municipalities (RCMs) and one territory outside the RCM (the city of Saguenay).

According to the 2011 census, the population of Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean is nearly 275,000 inhabitants. The city of Saguenay alone accounts for more than half of the region's population and ranks 7th among the most populated cities in Quebec.

An active region

The city of Saguenay is a commercial and service hub, with a university, two CEGEPs, three health and social services centres and almost half of the regional businesses.

In Lac-Saint-Jean, four major economic hubs offer local services to the surrounding agroforestry municipalities: Alma, Roberval, Saint-Félicien and Dolbeau-Mistassini.

The CFP du Pays-des-Bleuets offers unique teaching platforms through its workshops and its forest school. The entire CFP team is dedicated to developing students' professional skills and abilities.

The CFP ALMA offers a diverse range of 15 professional training programs offered to nearly 700 students per year and allocates the resources necessary for quality teaching.
